Like Communism? NO, a new Dark Ages. worthy of Charles Dickens

So, the governor of Maine would like to forget about working people? He'd like to bring back child labor? He has removed murals depicting the history of labor, and the struggle of ordinary people.... saying they were "one-sided". Interesting. His aesthetic standards, however, reminded me of my youth, visiting "communist" Czechoslovakia where some masterpieces of modern art had been placed in the basement, out of public eye..... The communists did not say they were "one-sided". But, then, "one-sided" now seems to mean: representing the history of ordinary Americans.... yes, I guess that is a side that Republicans don't want to hear about... What they are proposing in Maine is actually shocking--weakening child labor laws: allowing treenagers to work more, and for less... Democracy Now had a story about this on 1 April. I missed it... until now.... People should be in the streets screaming about this. It is unbelievable. From the Democracy Now report: One bill "..would let employers pay workers under the age of 20 a full $2.25 less per hour than Maine's minimum wage for their first 180 days on the job." "The bill would also eliminate the maximum number of hours a minor 16 years of age or older can work on a school day." "The second would allow 16- and 17-year-old teenagers to work one hour later on school nights." No maximum hours a 16 year old student can work on a school day! That is not going to help the student study.
