FIRST TRY
GMOOH!
reference: "Un Long Dimanche de Fiancailles" "A Very Long Engagement"
WARNING: "violence and sexuality"-----A more accurate description: This film has a more truthful depiction of the suffering of war than many Americans would like to see.... as for "sexuality"...........how very childish even to feel a need to mention it........I draw the conclusion that this is not a country of grown-ups.... What utter hypocrisy!~ To be bothered by the suffering of war when it is depicted in a film, and a historical film at that, but to willingly inflict suffering on countless innnocents in foreign lands, on a daily basis......
SECOND TRY
Of course, it may be that one scene in the movie was jokey somehow, with the rhythm of the sexual act being the basis for a sort of joke...now that's really offensive! DON'T MAKE JOKES ABOUT SEX! sex is not funny.
I am afraid that there are many things which lead me to say to myself, "I want to leave this country; return to Europe---and never come back." One of them is the insulting labels on movies: "Violence and Sexuality", or "bad language'
But, let's slow down a minute. 'Violence" is actually a very crude category as used by these censors. It mixes together various different depictions of violence which are very different.
AS I remarked earlier, in the film mentioned above, the depiction of violence would be more accurately described as "a depiction of the misery and suffering of war".
IN addition there are two revenge killings. One of them connected to sex---Ah, that must have really bothered someone.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
You have material treated in an honest way and then some assholes in hollywood are sitting back and judging it according to the most sick system--as if it were frightening or dangerous to say something truthful or not cliche....
Well, I want to throw up when I think about it.
It makes me angry and nauseous at the same time. Somewhere is an idiot who operates with these terribly wooden categories "violence" and "sexuality". Those two categories have nothing to do with reality. And a culture or country or business which operates that way is despicable and opposed to the most civilizing impulses of the arts. gmooh
Incidentally, there's also something sick about the idea that sex and violence go together---that they both belong in a single category! I suppose the category is: "things we would prefer not to think about except at the most superficial level"....
I can well imagine the sort of people involved. It's like what they used to call "communism".
"Well, you know, I don't really want to do this, you see, but...."
