Recently I read that when a person stops working to care for a child or elderly adult, not only do they lose money during the period of care, but their lifetime average earning goes down.

My income has been inadequate for several years. Now that I am caring for my elderly parents, what have I got to look forward to? Presumably, I shall actually die younger as a result of it.
