social forces

imagine the pressures:
having turned twenty-one,
and being glad of that,
no longer need you fear the police:
you can drink with your friends legally.

Naturally: relief;

But, then opposing forces:

Too much fun? Too much pleasure?
Can we justify being social, enjoying the company of others?
Need we do so?

And more seriously:
what of drinking and driving?
deaths

then again:
do you mean prohibition?

then again:
INVISIBLE
cars are a law of nature (even though in reality they are not)....
((we could never blame cars or the lack of public transport for the deaths.....))))
((((unwritten, unsaid, unthinkable)))))))).....

ready to hand, so omnipresent as not needing to be explicitly said, and only hinted at:
everyone for him- or herself; individual choice, etc. etc. etc.
